On November 24, 2024, as part of the introductory section of the course Transcultural Concepts in Nursing Care<\/em> in the Master’s Professional Study of Nursing, a panel discussion was held on the topic: Challenges in Providing Healthcare While Respecting Cultural Diversity \u2013 From Multicultural Healthcare Teams to Patients<\/em>. The discussion involved experts from the field of nursing care, and the panel was led by our lecturer, Ksenija Eljuga.<\/p>\n\n

\ud83d\udcac We discussed the challenges of providing care in a multicultural environment. Our guests were:<\/p>\n\n

\"👩‍⚕️\" Maja Bari\u0161i\u0107, glavna sestra doma umirovljenika Medimar,<\/p>\n\n

\"👩‍⚕️\" Anja Lipovac, ravnateljica obiteljskog doma Lipovac,<\/p>\n\n

\"👩‍⚕️\" Mandica Lagund\u017eija, glavna sestra odjela za rekonstrukcijsku i onkoplasti\u010dnu kirurgiju dojke u Klini\u010dkoj bolnici Dubrava,<\/p>\n\n

\"🌏\" Roonie Oril Laureta, njegovatelj porijeklom iz Filipina \"🇵🇭\", zaposlen u domu Medimar.<\/p>\n\n

Our students also actively participated in the discussion, highlighting the challenges they face in the field and hospital environment. Special attention was drawn to our guest, Roonie, who shared his experiences of adjusting to the language and culture in our country, as well as his satisfaction with a team that recognizes and values diversity.<\/p>\n\n

\u2705 We concluded that our nurses are sensitive to cultural differences in patient care \ud83c\udfe5, but also that healthcare teams are adaptable and respectful of employees from other countries \ud83c\udf1f.<\/p>\n\n

\ud83d\udcd6 Education in this area is crucial for improving the healthcare system, as only a culturally adaptable system can ensure satisfied patients \ud83d\ude0a and better treatment outcomes.<\/p>\n\n
