The Dean of the University, Zrinka Puharić, and lecturer Goranka Rafaj visited Antalya, Turkey, from May 23 to May 27, 2022, at Akdeniz University. During their visit, they discussed future collaboration with the Dean and Erasmus Coordinator. They also visited the clinical hospital where students carry out their internships. Special thanks to our incoming students, Hilalgamze and Aysegul, for their warm welcome.
International Nurses Day (IND) is an international day observed around the world on 12 May (the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth) each year, to mark the contributions that nurses make to society.
Our students and teachers of Nursing marked the International Nurses Day on Bjelovar’s Square Korzo by measuring people’s blood pressure, blood sugar levels and advising on life habits.

From 24 April 2022 to 30 April 2022 our Departments Mechatronics and Computer Science hosted professor Zoran Trifunof, PhD from Faculty of Technical Sciences, University “Mother Teresa” – Skopje, Macedonia. The Department of Mechatronics has been presented with a donation of automation equipment from Schneider Electric worth 64,713.33 HRK. On behalf of Schneider Electric, the equipment was handed over by Tomislav Ščrbak, Sales Director of the Industry and Integrators sector. The donated equipment includes a powerful PLC Modicon M262, ATV630 frequency converter, Lexium 32 servo system, servo motor, power supplies, Ethernet modules, and software licenses for augmented reality and PLC programming. We thank Schneider Electric for the fourth consecutive donation of equipment that will enhance our laboratories. This donation is the result of a long-standing successful collaboration between Schneider Electric and Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences, and during today’s meeting, a plan for expanding this cooperation was agreed upon.
On May 4, 2022, the second lecture as part of the lifelong learning program for nurses was held at Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences on the topic: “The Role of the Nurse/Technician – Anesthetist in the Anesthesiology Team.” We thank the participants for their constructive discussion and look forward to meeting again. Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences is the host of the ENNE Intensive Programme in Nursing 2022 (IP2022). IP2022 involves the organization and coordination of 17 teachers and 45 students from 11 higher education institutions across Europe who visited Bjelovar University today. During the day, a coordination meeting was held, followed by a lecture titled *”Compassion – In Practice”* delivered by Dr. Sarah Tobin from the UK. After the lecture, students were divided into groups where they enjoyed various activities, participated in a quiz, took charming photos around the city of Bjelovar, and more. The program was led by the president of the Student Union, Iva Stanković.
The institutions participating in IP2022 are: Fachhochschule Salzburg, Austria; Plymouth University, England; Satakunta University of Applied Sciences, Finland; Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain; HES-SO Valais Wallis, Switzerland; PXL University College, Belgium; Tartu Health Care College, Estonia; Protestant University of Applied Sciences in Berlin, Germany; Linköping University, Sweden; and Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, the Netherlands. The participants from Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences in IP2022 are Ksenija Eljuga, Senior Lecturer; Assist. Prof. Dr. Zrinka Puharić, Prof. of Applied Sciences; and three undergraduate Nursing students—Lea Marčeta, Bernard Viljevac, and Ivan Lalić.
This year’s first lecture for nurses and technicians, accredited by the Croatian Chamber of Nurses, was held at Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences. The topic of the lecture was: “Pressure Injuries Caused by Medical Devices.” The lecture was delivered by our lecturer, Ksenija Eljuga. We thank the participants for their constructive discussion and look forward to meeting again.

From November 8 to 11, 2021, Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences hosted a hybrid model of the ENNE Coordinators’ Meeting (https://www.enne.international/). We were visited in person by three teachers from Spain (Maria Dolores Bernabeu, Juan Maria Leyva, and Mariela Patrizia Aguayo Gonzales) and Janika Pael from Estonia, who gave engaging lectures to senior students of the undergraduate nursing program. For the guests, a visit to the city of Zagreb and Trakošćan Castle was organized. Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences is the only higher education institution in Croatia that is a member of the ENNE organization.
The powerhouse team from Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences—students Bernard Viljevac and Martino Milanović, along with lecturers Zrinka Puharić and Mirna Žulec—participated in the ENNE Intensive Programme *Intercultural Competences in Nursing,* which, for the first time in 20 years, was held online. The event was preceded by several days of preparation, both online and in person, culminating in great success. 🤩 Among participants from 15 countries across Europe, our students demonstrated outstanding knowledge, motivation, and exceptional English communication and expression skills. Bravo! 👏
