Our Department of Computing has welcomed four students from the Academy of Professional Studies Šumadija, Department of Kragujevac (Serbia), for a two-month stay. As part of their studies, the incoming students will complete a professional internship at Serengeti. We extend a warm welcome to our incoming students and wish them great success during their studies at our University of Applied Sciences and their internship at Serengeti.

At the national thematic meeting organized by the Agency for Mobility and EU Programs, our lecturer Ivana Jurković presented best practices of our University of Applied Sciences and examples of student and staff mobility in collaboration with universities outside the EU.
Today, in collaboration with the Vocational School Đurđevac, we hosted teachers specializing in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and economics from Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Our staff presented the Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences, the projects the University participated in over the past year, the Erasmus+ program at the University, as well as its collaboration with secondary schools and companies through the Student Incubator. The collaboration between the University and secondary schools was also showcased by the Economics and Biotechnical School of Bjelovar, which presented an application for a practice firm. Additionally, we gave our guests a tour of our facilities, including laboratories, practical classrooms, the library, lecture halls, and the Erasmus Corner.
On October 7, 2022, the Dean of the University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zrinka Puharić, and our external collaborator, Mrs. Sc. Marija Čatipović, MD, held a lecture on the topic “Updates in Breastfeeding Education” at our university. The lecture was attended by our nursing students and nurses who encounter issues related to breastfeeding among young mothers in their daily work. The assessment was carried out in accordance with the regulations of the Croatian Chamber of Nurses (HKMS).
Our lecturer, Ivana Jurković, participated today in a panel discussion on the importance of implementing international activities in higher education at the ceremonial conference marking 35 years of Erasmus, held at Tvornica kulture in Zagreb. She was joined by vice-rectors from the University of Dubrovnik and the University of Split, as well as a representative of ESN. The sectoral panel opened with a video showcasing the fantastic story of our Mechatronics student, Sebastijan Kos, who realized his entrepreneurial dreams through Erasmus. Our Mechatronics Department will host an incoming student from Duzce University (Faculty of Engineering) in Turkey this semester. The incoming student, Ömer Kenan, will attend four courses with us and work on his final thesis in our lab. Our mechatronics student, Nikola Tutić, is undertaking his Erasmus+ professional internship at the Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana for the second time. During this four-month internship period, Nikola visited the Automation, Biocybernetics and Robotics, Systems and Control, and Intelligent Systems departments. The smile on Nikola’s face clearly shows how satisfied he is with the internship.
After three weeks of lectures and almost a hundred school hours of summer classes, the first Summer School of Programming and Robotics has come to an end! A big thank you to all primary and secondary school students who joined us during these hot summer days. We hope you had fun, learned a lot, and maybe even discovered a new hobby! Lecturers from Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences, Goranka Rafaj and Živko Stojčić, visited Bulgaria from June 6 to June 10, 2022, at Medical University Sofia. During their visit, they met with the Dean, Professor Galina Chaneva, and the Erasmus Coordinator, Antoniyа Yanakievа, to discuss the continuation of their ongoing cooperation and the exchange of students and lecturers. As part of their professional development, the lecturers visited state-of-the-art hospitals – the largest gynecology and obstetrics hospital in Bulgaria, Maternity Hospital – Maichin Dom, and Tokusa Hospital – Acibadem City Clinic, where students conduct clinical exercises. Our female students also had placements in these hospitals. Special thanks to Tanja, Miglena, Iliana, and Diana for their warm welcome at the hospitals.
After the joint student conference held in May, representatives of Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences (Zrinka Puharić, Tatjana Badrov, and Tomislav Pavlic) exchanged experiences, presented current projects, and planned future activities with representatives of CEPS. The representatives of the University also visited TMP, a company for employing blind and visually impaired individuals, in Sarajevo. There, they discussed potential collaboration opportunities with Veselin Rebić, the company’s director, and Armin Hadžić, the executive director.
