A guest lecture and practical exercises were held in the course “Emergency Medical Procedures in Out-of-Hospital Conditions.”

Expertise in action: 🚑 A guest lecture and practical exercises were held in the course “Emergency Medical Procedures in Out-of-Hospital Conditions” 🏥 On Saturday, December 14, 2024, nursing students had the opportunity to learn live from Dario Gazić, a Master of Nursing with a specialization in out-of-hospital emergency medical care, whose theoretical part he attended at Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences. 📚 Along with an inspiring lecture covering the challenges and key aspects of fieldwork, practical exercises on basic life support (BLS) were also conducted. 💡

What did we learn? 🔹 A theoretical insight into decision-making in emergency situations. 🔹 Practical application of basic life support procedures – from proper chest compressions to using an automated external defibrillator (AED). 🩺⚡

The practical exercises provided students with not only theoretical knowledge but also the opportunity to experience through simulations the responsibility and quick reaction needed in emergency interventions. ⏱️💪

Once again, a big thank you to our guest for selflessly sharing knowledge and providing motivation to work in this dynamic and demanding field! 🙏✨

Analysis of quality indicators for the academic year 2023/2024 and enrollment for the academic year 2024/2025.

By News, News Nursing, Obavijesti mehatronika, Obavijesti računarstvo

Dear students, employees, external collaborators, and other stakeholders of BUAS,

We would like to inform you about the conducted Analysis of Quality Indicators for the academic year 2023/2024 and enrollment for the academic year 2024/2025. This annual analysis of quality indicators is one of the key documents generated at Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences (BUAS). The result of the analysis is a set of recommendations for improvement, which we regularly implement in our quality assurance and enhancement system. Over the years, we have reduced the number of recommendations from an average of 15 to just 6, indicating that we are actively addressing and resolving all challenges.

The Analysis of Quality Indicators presents quality indicators in the following areas:

• Student interest in the study programs at BUAS

• The number and structure of enrolled students at BUAS

• Student pass rates by individual years

• The number of graduates, their average duration of study, and their average grade

• Pass rates and grades on exams

•           drop out

• The number of students who continued their education in the master’s program

• Employment of graduates

This year’s analysis of quality indicators is available at the following link: https://vub.hr/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Analiza-indikatora-kvalitete-2023-2024.pdf

The conclusions of this year’s analysis of quality indicators are as follows:

  • Interest in all study programs has slightly increased compared to the previous academic year.
  • The number of enrolled students at Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences is higher compared to the previous academic year when we look at enrollments in professional undergraduate programs.
  • We enrolled 90 new students in the professional graduate program in Nursing.
  • The proportion of students who have achieved higher-year status is greater compared to the previous academic year.
  • The number of courses with critically low pass rates at BUAS has decreased, but there are still three courses in the professional undergraduate programs in Mechatronics and Computer Science that have had critically low pass rates for several years.
  • The student dropout rate is lower compared to the previous academic year.
  • The number of students who continued their education in the master’s program has increased.
  • The employment rate of our graduates in Mechatronics and Computer Science is an incredible 100%.
  • The employment rate of our nursing graduates is an incredible 98.04%.

In general, the quality indicators in this analysis of quality indicators are significantly better compared to the indicators from previous analyses. We believe this is the result of successfully closing the “plan–do–check–act” cycle within our quality assurance and enhancement system.

Recommendations for improvement arising from the analysis of quality indicators are as follows:

  1. Continue promotional activities and further enhance them (University Day and/or Open Day, visits to high schools, social media, media, etc.) for all study programs at BUAS.
  2. Through promotional activities, continue to highlight the advantages of studying at BUAS with the aim of attracting higher-quality students from vocational schools and gymnasiums to the professional undergraduate programs at BUAS, as well as attracting higher-quality students from the professional undergraduate Nursing program.
  3. Continue to encourage mentors to motivate students for whom the final thesis is the only remaining unpassed course, helping them in the preparation and defense of their thesis.
  4. Study program leaders will review pass rates on exams by course and, together with course instructors, propose measures to improve pass rates for courses with consistently low and high pass rates (consistently high pass rates will only be considered for key professional courses).
  5. Study program leaders will review the number of students who passed critical courses if they enrolled in the course during the academic years 2022/2023 and 2023/2024, and will propose urgent recommendations for courses where the overall pass rate is below 50%.
  6. For critical courses where the overall pass rate is below 50%, mass consultations will be organized (consultations will take place just before the exam periods).

We thank everyone for working together to ensure and enhance the quality of all processes at BUAS.
