On February 15, 2023, a lecture was held as part of the lifelong learning program for nurses and technicians, accredited by the Croatian Chamber of Nurses, on the topic “Health Tourism and Its Impact on Nursing.” The lecture was delivered by Sabina Bis, university graduate in administrative sanitation, a lecturer at our Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences. We thank the participants for their great interest and involvement in the engaging discussions.
On January 18, 2023, the first lecture as part of the lifelong learning program for nurses and technicians was held at Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences on the topic: “COVID-19 – Current Insights.” The lecture was delivered by our dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zrinka Puharić, MD. We thank the participants for their constructive discussion and look forward to meeting again in February. Erasmus coordinator Mateo Ivančić and faculty member Tomislav Adamović visited Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski,” Bulgaria, from January 9 to January 13. Details were agreed upon for a blended mobility program in which VUB students will participate. During the visit, a meeting was held, and a cooperation agreement was signed with the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, through which our students will have the opportunity to participate in mobility and study at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski.”
On January 14, 2023, a course on “Basic Life Support with the Use of an Automated External Defibrillator” was held at our university. It was very dynamic, dramatic, and emotional. Our students successfully revived all the residents of our Nursing Skills Practice Room: mannequins from child to adult age. 🙂 Everything that seemed simple through the story, we concluded, is actually exhausting and demanding in practice.
We would like to thank our lecturers and demonstrators, top national instructors Marijana Bebek, Mirela Vogrinec, and Luka Zlogleđi, for their selfless sharing of knowledge and experience. To help ease the students’ nerves, our instructor Marijana Bebek told the students: “You came to the course, but imagine this as a playroom.” Thank you to our students for their active participation, numerous questions, and persistence in resuscitation. Today, you demonstrated knowledge (and knowledge is power), and you demonstrated skills (and skills are the strength of power).

Dean Zrinka Puharić and faculty member Sabina Bis participated in the Diversity in a Globalized World International Week from December 12 to 16, 2022, at PXL University, Healthcare Department, Hasselt, Belgium. As part of this ERASMUS+ mobility program, our representatives presented our university to faculty and students, attended a lecture on dementia, visited the Department of Health Studies and its practical labs, as well as the Jessa Hospital and Universal Design Living Lab. At the lab, multidisciplinary teams (healthcare professionals, architects, and computer science specialists) develop solutions to improve the lives of individuals with physical and mental challenges. Additionally, they established contacts with higher education institutions in Ethiopia, South Africa, and Ecuador.
Our Vice-Dean for Teaching and Student Affairs, Zoran Vrhovski, conducted professional education for the teachers of the Koprivnica School of Trades and the Vocational School of Đurđevac in the field of microcontrollers, lasting 30 hours. The education was carried out as part of the project “Development of Competencies Through Work-Based Learning,” in which our University of Applied Sciences is a partner.
Last week, as part of the Erasmus+ program, we were visited by colleagues from the Center for Business Studies – Kiseljak. Along with meetings with the heads of our departments, we also discussed the continuation of our excellent ongoing collaboration.
