Erasmus mobility at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski,” Bulgaria

Erasmus coordinator Mateo Ivančić and faculty member Tomislav Adamović visited Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski,” Bulgaria, from January 9 to January 13. Details were agreed upon for a blended mobility program in which VUB students will participate. During the visit, a meeting was held, and a cooperation agreement was signed with the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, through which our students will have the opportunity to participate in mobility and study at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski.”

Diversity in a Globalised World International Week

Dean Zrinka Puharić and faculty member Sabina Bis participated in the Diversity in a Globalized World International Week from December 12 to 16, 2022, at PXL University, Healthcare Department, Hasselt, Belgium. As part of this ERASMUS+ mobility program, our representatives presented our university to faculty and students, attended a lecture on dementia, visited the Department of Health Studies and its practical labs, as well as the Jessa Hospital and Universal Design Living Lab. At the lab, multidisciplinary teams (healthcare professionals, architects, and computer science specialists) develop solutions to improve the lives of individuals with physical and mental challenges. Additionally, they established contacts with higher education institutions in Ethiopia, South Africa, and Ecuador.

ERASMUS STAFF MOBILITY FROM THE JOŽEF STEFAN INSTITUTE

Our dear colleagues and representatives from the Jožef Stefan Institute held the following guest lectures today as part of the Erasmus+ program in the Mechatronics program:

1. Danjela Kuscer: „Thin and thick film structures: processing and applications“

2. Hana Uršič: „Aerosol deposition, and atomic force microscopy“

3. Tadej Rojac:  „Ferroelectrics, piezoelectrics, and electrocalorics: materials and measurements“

So far, a total of 21 students from Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences have successfully completed their internships at the Jožef Stefan Institute. The Jožef Stefan Institute is the most common choice for our students to carry out their internships. Representatives of the University and the Jožef Stefan Institute have agreed on plans to continue this excellent collaboration.

ERASMUS INCOMING MOBILITIES FROM SERBIA

Our Department of Computing has welcomed four students from the Academy of Professional Studies Šumadija, Department of Kragujevac (Serbia), for a two-month stay. As part of their studies, the incoming students will complete a professional internship at Serengeti. We extend a warm welcome to our incoming students and wish them great success during their studies at our University of Applied Sciences and their internship at Serengeti.

Guests from Slovakia and the Czech Republic

Today, in collaboration with the Vocational School Đurđevac, we hosted teachers specializing in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and economics from Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Our staff presented the Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences, the projects the University participated in over the past year, the Erasmus+ program at the University, as well as its collaboration with secondary schools and companies through the Student Incubator. The collaboration between the University and secondary schools was also showcased by the Economics and Biotechnical School of Bjelovar, which presented an application for a practice firm. Additionally, we gave our guests a tour of our facilities, including laboratories, practical classrooms, the library, lecture halls, and the Erasmus Corner.

Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences at the Ceremonial Conference Marking 35 Years of Erasmus

Our lecturer, Ivana Jurković, participated today in a panel discussion on the importance of implementing international activities in higher education at the ceremonial conference marking 35 years of Erasmus, held at Tvornica kulture in Zagreb. She was joined by vice-rectors from the University of Dubrovnik and the University of Split, as well as a representative of ESN. The sectoral panel opened with a video showcasing the fantastic story of our Mechatronics student, Sebastijan Kos, who realized his entrepreneurial dreams through Erasmus. ERASMUS INCOMING MOBILITY FROM TURKEY

Our Mechatronics Department will host an incoming student from Duzce University (Faculty of Engineering) in Turkey this semester. The incoming student, Ömer Kenan, will attend four courses with us and work on his final thesis in our lab.
